Glass hero

A piece of clear glass in front of the headline, bending the letters behind it. Six pieces of glass over one headline, each bending it its own way: a thick lens, a cut crystal, a prism, a reeded panel, a rod and a ring. Choosing one sends the piece on show out to one side while the next glides in across the words from the other.

See it first. The site is built before you pay for it.

How it behaves

  • It changes piece on its own until someone chooses.
  • The glass leans towards the pointer and drifts with it.
  • The lens magnifies the letters under it, the reeded panel cuts them into strips, the rod mirrors them.

How it is made

  • three.js transmission: the type is drawn first, then bent through the glass.
  • Dispersion splits the edges into colour, as cut glass does.
  • The reflections come from a small studio built in code, with neutral lights and no photograph.
